Someone else's life

Yesterday (Monday, March 6) I didn't end up getting to run. I spent all day working on various fundraising tasks and lost track of time until I had to run out of the house for another commitment. Sooooo rather than take today as an off day- that the schedule calls for- I went running with Ethan at Lake Murray. I did 4 miles run/walking in 6/1 sets.

Now, first of all, it is A LOT more difficult to run with a stroller than it is without one. This is not because of the weight, neccessarily. It's mainly because it interferes so greatly with your arm motion. For those of you who don't run, your upper body is a significant factor in your overall ability to keep moving and almost dictates what your lower half does.

Secondly, something astonishing happened toward the end of my run. I actually thought, "that wasn't so bad." !!! What? Who said that? I could not possibly have just run 4miles and thought "that wasn't so bad"!! Who's life am I thinking of because surely that's not me, voluntarily running 4miles in a row.... getting up at 4:45am to go run miles around a cold lake...sacrificing my Saturday morning sleep for an eight mile run!!! This is truly too surreal to be true!

Man it feels good!

Good News-Bad News

The Good News:

Saturday, March 4th, I ran/walked 8 miles! I did it with the Team In Training Team. We started at Spanish Landing and ran along the docks and boardwalk down to Seaport Village then back again. I managed to stay with the group this time! Yeah! (I have no idea how long it took, but we did it in sets of 6 min running, 1 minute walking.)

Also my knees & ankles continue to be pain free! This is not to say that I feel "just dandy" after the runs. I am, in fact, VERY sore and walk like a crippled old woman for hours afterward. (Luke tries unsuccessfully not to laugh.) But no actual pain.

The Bad News:

Saturday morning, Luke, my mother, & I executed a long-planned breakfast fundraiser. Based on past similar fundraisers we should have raised a minimum of $250. However, due to an issue beyond our control, we raised only about $100. Not chump change by any means, but not nearly the $300-400 we'd believed probable. It was a lot of work and we are understandably disappointed. However, there are still other fundraising projects in the works and we remain hopeful that I will yet reach my fundraising goal. The continued support of friends and family has been invaluable! THANK YOU!

And a VERY BIG THANK YOU to my mom and Luke who both sacrificed their Saturdays, got up literally before the crack of dawn, and worked their tails off to help make this event happen! It would not have been possible without them!

Also a thanks to Sprouts of El Cajon, Sam's Club of Lemon Grove, Home Depot of El Cajon, & REI of San Diego for their generous and speedy donations!

Another small bit of bad news:

I awoke Sunday morning with a migraine and it took me so much of the day to shake it that I didn't get to run.

More good news:

Friday afternoon (March 3rd) I wore my pre-pregnancy pants out of the house for the first time! They truly fit! Woohoo!

When I weighed myself that day I weighed just 186.5 - 2.5lbs above my pre-pregnancy weight! However, weighing myself just now I got 190.5..... oh well. The point is to be more healthy, not just get a smaller number, & I am definately more skinny and more toned than before!

Well off to do today's 4 mile run!
