I can see the future!

At precicely 3:30am this Sunday morning I will be trying NOT to heave my breakfast into the toilet!

Okay, sorry if that was a little graphic for you, but it's true. I get SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nervous before big events like this (i.e. first day of middle school, first track meet of the season, first time at a party with new friends, etc). I am not counting on getting much sleep Saturday night, despite having every intention of trying to do so- including leaving Ethan with Nana & Grandpa for the night.

But, to back up and catch you up on what has happened since my last post:
I took a lot of time off my training to recover from my sciatic nerve pain. Although it worked (I'm now pain free in that regard), I am leery of the cost I may have paid in my overall condition.

I ran last Monday, this past Wednesday, and this morning. These runs have shown me that I've lost some of my mental edge. It seems more difficult than it was before to fight the mental "demons" (using term figuratively) of exhaustion and self doubt. I'm inclined to think it is as much the anxiety of anticipation as it is the lack of practice over the last week. It's not something I can't overcome, it just makes things more difficult. (and this thing is hard enough as it is!)

The extra heat of the last few days has certainly not helped matters, either, and I can only PRAY that we have cloud cover for as long as possible Sunday morning. In fact, if YOU could pray as well, I would be VERY GRATEFUL!!!

Despite my hours, days, weeks, and months of training, I know that is only with God's strength that I will complete this marathon. I pray several times a day that He will grant me a peace within my circumstances and that He will grant me the strength to fullfill that which I have comitted to do.

I take comfort in knowing that I have already completed- nay exceeded- the most important part of what I set out to do. Thanks to the amazing generosity of my friends, my family, and even complete strangers, over $2,200 has been donated toward the fullfillment of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to fight blood cancers.

This will likely be my last blog until after the marathon. I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my endeavors. Without you, none of this would have been possible!

THANK YOU!!!

P.S. If anyone would like to join my family in greeting me at the end of the marathon, we will be meeting in the Family Reunion section of the Finish Line Festival (Section D)- Look for a big sign with my name. The race starts at 6:30am. I hope to finish between noon and 1pm. Visit the Rock N Roll Marathon website for more details: www.rnrmarathon.com
